Hull Film Festival 2010

yeah for this small graphics taster on my foundation I was creating a poster for a film festival next year, this was only a 4 day taster again, but it was ok I quite liked messing around with the compositions and different layouts.

Hull Maritime Project

This was a 4 day project where we collected an item which was representational of the past and resurfaced the object in any way or form we liked. I found working in this book like a journal to be the best way to represent my interpretation of how Hull docks were effected during and after the war. I liked the idea of keeping a journal over the 4 days we were set the project over, I used the old maps of the docks and printed certain images I collected from within the museum. I enjoyed this process quite a lot and also learnt how to create emulsion prints which look pretty damn cool.

just a few ideas for a poster I thought I would design for a few friends who are at uni at the moment, its just for my friends drum and bass production which he followed whilst studying at A level, I really like the music so I find it easy to work to this idea. This design is just a follow up of ideas ive had over the past couple of months and have found a suitable area to try them in.

ideas

along the lines of self portraiture again

some more old work i've whipped out to rework, these sketchbooks are mainly kept for my own resource to things im most likely going to forget about

quick studies watercolour, ink, charcoal and wax

These are just a few images in my sketchbook from quite a while ago actually, I thought I would rework some areas. Basically they are just simple studies of the cornfields and long grasses in Cyprus which I further went onto painting within some of my landscape work.

This was another poster design which I eventually used for a portfolio cover.

This is the handouts i created for myself to advertise this website for my online portfolio. keepin' it real.

Poster Design

Pretty pleased with the outcome of this self advertisment poster, this was a part of my final images and designs for my graphic design A level exam period! the prof prints looked really good at A2 size, you could really see the detail and texture.

Scanning

This is a part of my development and experimentation within my exam in A level photography, the first image is of Jamie and the second is a self portrait. My influences mainly include Francis Bacon and Ingrid Baars. I gathered a few people to do this experiment nad well pretty much just scanned there face! slight editing afterwards.

Rope Light

This was created through using a rope light and interaction with the light creating the motion blurr. This was my first shoot within the Global Warming Brief.

Urban Light Project

This was a part of my investigation of Urban lighting within my Photography, this was shot on a Bronica Medium Format camera on Colour Transparency film. (trannyfilm)
I was surprised at the actual quality of the colour the film produced enhancing the unnatural light.
I had to bracket the exposures for these images getting the correct exposure. Overall the exposures were about 30 to 35 seconds on the bulb setting at F.5.6.
I had to manually close the shutter as ...it was either broke or was just really annnoying on the bulb setting. this didnt make too much of a problem due to the long exposures and i gained no camera shake. I did however get thrown off the site twice trying to reshoot!

Tuesday, 17 March 2009

This was part of my developing ideas through my manipulation of digital photography with the underlying message of Global Warming. This is one of several final images, The plastic wrap was supposed to create a sence of encagement and structural definition, the structure within is the Humber Bridge representing human development and interaction.

Typography

This was a part of my last years experimentation including a range of typography based explorations into texture and surface. (scanned image)
